In einer schon fast malerischen Kulisse in Schönbrunn in Wien lud die AUVA zum Kongress „Innovations in Concept in Knee Surgery”. Dabei wurden an zwei Tagen diverse Konzepte und Möglichkeiten einer Vielzahl von Wegen der operativen Versorgung von Knieverletzungen demonstriert. Der erste Tag stand ganz im Zeichen der ligamentären Knieverletzungen und Knorpelverletzungen. Insofern lag das Augenmerk auf verschiedenen Konzepten der Versorgung von Kreuzbandrupturen. Im Anschluss drehte sich alles um Innovationen in der Behandlung von Knorpelschäden. Das Spektrum reichte von meniskuserhaltenden Operationen bis zur HTO. Samstags wurden die Themen Perigenikuläre Frakturen sowie Patellofemorale Instabilität behandelt.
Prof. Dr. Philip Schöttle, AGA-Mitglied und langjähriger Vorsitzender im AGA-Komitee Knie-Patellofemoral, war auch dieses Mal wieder mit verantwortlich für das wissenschaftliche Programm. Er selbst referierte in diesem Rahmen über die verschiedenen Möglichkeiten der Versorgung eines Kreuzbandriss. Hier beleuchtete er die Indikationen für eine operationsfreie Therapie nur mit Stammzellen und einer entsprechenden Sporttherapie unter Verwendung einer Schiene. Außerdem stellte er die optimale Indikation für eine kreuzbanderhaltende Operation – das „Bracing“ – mit Zahlen/Ergebnissen seiner Patienten mit mehr als 2 Jahren follow up und „early return to sport“ dar. Ebenso die Herangehensweise für ein individualisiertes Vorgehen, wenn eine vollständige Rekonstruktion notwendig sein sollte.
Einen weiteren Vortrag hielt Prof. Schöttle über das komplexe Thema der optimalen Versorgung von hochgradigen Kniescheibeninstabilitäten. Dabei beleuchtete er das Thema für die Indikation und die perfekte Durchführung der Trochleaplastik sowie die Lösungsmöglichkeiten nach fehlgeschlagener Trochleaplastik. Aufgrund seines wahrscheinlich weltweit größten Erfahrungsschatzes auf dem Bereich der Trochleaplastik konnte er auch mit entsprechenden Fallbeispielen die Herangehensweise bildlich und plastisch darstellen.
Im Anschluss daran war Prof. Schöttle für die Teilnehmer und Studenten für deren Fragen direkt im persönlichen Austausch zu sprechen.

In an almost picturesque setting in Schönbrunn in Vienna the AUVA invited to the congress „Innovations in Concept in Knee Surgery“. On two days various concepts and possibilities of a variety of ways of surgical treatment of knee injuries were demonstrated.
The first day is all about ligamentous knee injuries and cartilage injuries. Insofar the focus was on various concepts of the treatment of cruciate ligament ruptures. Following the treatment of cartilage damage. The spectrum ranges from meniscus-preserving operations to HTO. On Saturdays, the topics Perigenicular Fractures and Patellofemoral Instability were discussed.
Prof. Dr. Philip Schöttle, AGA member and longtime chairman of the AGA Knee Patellofemoral Committee, was once again responsible for the scientific program. He himself lectured in this context on the different ways of supplying a cruciate ligament rupture. Here he illuminated the indications for an operation-free therapy only with stem cells and a corresponding sports therapy using a splint. In addition, he presented the optimal indication for a cruciate-retaining operation – „bracing“ – with numbers / outcomes of his patients over 2 years follow up and „early return to sport.“ Similarly, the approach for an individualized approach, if a complete reconstruction should be necessary.
Prof. Schöttle gave another lecture on the complex topic of optimally treating high-grade patella instabilities. He highlighted the subject for the indication and the perfect performance of the trochlea plasty as well as the solution possibilities after failed trochlea plasty. Due to his probably world-wide greatest experience in the field of trochlea surgery, he was also able to illustrate the approach visually and plastic with corresponding case studies.
Following this, Prof. Schöttle was able to speak directly and personally to the participants and students for their questions.
